Young At Heart GH concludes the third phase of Skill For Her, an entrepreneurial and vocational skill training project funded by World Connect for young women between ages 18 and 24 in Ghana, who are looking for training opportunities to start their own vocational skill-based businesses.
The project spans a period of three months. In the first month, participants are engaged in virtual classes. The second month is focused on in person internships with the facilitators and the third month is dedicated to digital and business skills to equip participants to start their own business. After the training, participants who apply and are successful are supported with an interest-free seed funding of up to GH₵1,000.00 to grow their business.
The last phase witnessed 70 participants being trained in either bead or fascinator making skills. About 80% of participants had no prior knowledge before training but had about a 100% satisfactory rate after the training. After the 3-month training period, 5 participants were awarded a seed capital following a thorough application process. Participants are sure to grow their business and further train and encourage other young ladies to start their own businesses.
YAH has agreed to arrange periodic business training and coaching for the participants as well as providing business support when needed.
