As part of efforts to champion digital literacy among children in Africa via computers and other E-learning platforms, Young at Heart GH is set to launch it’s maiden app, #AnanseTheTeacherApp on Friday, June 16th, 2017 at the Bishop Bowers Basic School in Accra.
After winning the Tigo Digital Changemaker Competition in 2015, Josephine Marie Godwyll, Founder and National Coordinator of Young at Heart Gh and her team has rolled out another noteworthy contribution towards digital literacy in Ghana.
#AnanseTheTeacherApp
is a gamefied learning app that provide easy to grasp learning materials on the STEAM subjects namely; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
Gamefication in E-learning is fast becoming an effective tool in engaging learners. It affords pupils the opportunity to have fun whiles learning at the same time. That way, some difficult concepts can be made relatable to these young learners.
Ananse is a popular character in African folklore. There’s always some moral lessons embedded in Ananse stories. And it comes along with some good measure of humour as well. His emergence on the digital sphere as Ananse the Teacher is nothing short of that.
The general public is invited to the launch. You can also follow the hashtag #AnanseTheTeacherApp
on twitter to join the conversation. The app will be available on google play store on Friday, 16th June, 2017.
