The first phase of the program received massive patronage as many young women took advantage of the opportunity to acquire skills and establish their own businesses. The program which ran over three months empowered women with skills such as beading, catering, among others.
After months of participating in the Skills For Her program, Sherifa Mohammed, now CEO of SHESAF’S ENTERPRISE, shares her experiences from the program with us. Madam Sherifa is a young, hardworking, and industrious lady from the Northern Region of Ghana. Being an entrepreneur, she enrolled on the Skills For Her program to acquire new catering skills and also sharpen her already acquired skills.
“I acquired skills from the catering class which have helped me in business. I was having challenges which with the help of the program were minimized.” She said. She further adds that she got knowledge on how to manage her business and also had the opportunity to interact with successful entrepreneurs who mentored her at no cost.
Some of the skills she acquired include how to make healthy beverages such as sobolo, and baobab smoothie. She also learnt how to make watermelon basket, fruit salad, fruit kebabs, spring rolls among others. Aside these, she buys and packages pure honey and sells as part of her businesses. She was also given a startup capital with which she has started her own business.
