The past months have been impactful and interesting as Young At Heart Ghana, under the auspices of Skills For Her, continues to foster TVET education for young women in Ghana. Following the impressive outcomes of Phase I of the project, Skills For Her Phase II sought to expand the scope of skills and impact by equipping more young women with sellable skills which they can utilise to gain their financial freedom. Defying all odds such as geographical limitations and financial constraints, over 100 young women enrolled on the project, exploring e-learning platforms as the medium of training.

With professional coaches and mentors provided by Skills For Her, these young women have proven the worth of the project with sterling results. Having been trained in various skills including beadmaking, makeup, packaging, branding and marketing, these young women are proud to call themselves CEOs of their own businesses and establishments. They in turn look forward to training other young ladies in their communities to acquire these entrepreneurial skills towards their financial independence. It was all joy for some of the beneficiaries to share their success stories with us.

Classy Accessories

Classy Accessories started with the production of ankara brooches, bowties, and flying ties. Just when I was thinking of how to expand my business, I saw Young at Heart skills for her online training flyer on social media. I decided to join the beadmaking cohort since it was in line with my start-up business. The facilitators took us through how to make various accessories such as bridal fans, fascinators, beads key chains, bags, among others.

The training has been part of a success story to Classy Accessories because it is now a hub of accessories which include bridal accessories, bead accessories, fascinators for various occasions and many more. I want to personally thank the organisers for such a great job. Below are my contact details for potential customers.

Classy Accessories is an online business located in Kumasi.

Undoubtedly, Skills For Her is a timely intervention as most of the beneficiaries lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic. Today, they are their own bosses and also employing others who wish to be trained.
